They Just Lie

They just say whatever to get you to book and follow through with none of it. Misquoted me the first time and raised the price on me after I signed. Said my items would be shipped alone then once signed told me no it will be shipped with others. Stopped responding two days up to my move with no driver assigned to me forcing me to find another company last minute. Refused to refund me but then said they would refund the overcharge portion of the previous misquote but ended up charging me for that anyway after they said they would not. Total scammers, complete liars, untethical, untustworthy.

Helpful movers

These guys help set up my move from NY to FL and did a fantastic job! Brian has been in contact with me throughout the entire move even with hiccups they took care of me. The service was good, my items arrived in good conditions the only hiccup as I stated earlier was the delivery took a bit longer than expected but I did receive a $200 refund which was nice. Would recommend.

Do not book

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. This organization is exceedingly unprofessional and disrespectful, especially considering I spent over $2000 on their services. Initially, they persuaded me to switch from my original moving company by disparaging their competition, which was a mistake.

Furthermore, communication was severely lacking. Despite multiple calls to confirm the movers' arrival, I was repeatedly told they would contact me, which never happened. On May 30th, I spoke with Mandy, Berto, Michael, and Leanne, who were all exceptionally rude. The company's internal communication is clearly deficient. They pressured me into having my belongings moved today and then threatened to void my contract if the movers couldn't take my items.

I am relocating to another state, and this company has only added to my stress. Their four-star rating is misleading; the company is disorganized, fails to communicate effectively, and is highly unprofessional. Additionally, they attempted to impose additional fees before the move. Although I was initially told by Michael that the movers would handle packing and wrapping, I was later informed there would be an extra charge for boxes for my TV. This inconsistency left me in the dark about numerous details.

I strongly advise conducting thorough research before selecting a moving company and not being deceived by inflated ratings. This company is not worth the expense; they lack professionalism and transparency. Leanne claimed I had agreed to certain terms based on a phone call, but I was misled throughout the entire process. When I called customer service for assistance, the mover arrived an hour later and gave me an ultimatum: move my belongings today or not at all.

I am moving from Georgia to Tennessee and had everything planned accordingly. However, the company refused to communicate with me after I expressed my frustration, which was justified given their mishandling of my time and money. To add to my previous experience, the company ultimately did not move my belongings. Jennifer has since become involved, and I recorded her making derogatory comments about a client in Spanish while the driver laughed, which I found highly unprofessional.

Communication issues continued as I had to approach the driver directly to inquire about additional charges, but he did not speak English, making it difficult to understand the situation. When I contacted Star Line customer service, they began imposing additional fees. Due to a lack of space in the truck, they attempted to charge me an extra $315 on top of the $2500 I had already paid.

Moreover, their recorded lines can confirm that Michael told me there would be no stair fee. However, Jennifer insisted that only the first seven stairs were free, contrary to the contract which states that the first flight of stairs is free at either the pickup or drop-off location. Jennifer pressured me to pay the $75 stair fee immediately, giving me the ultimatum to either move my belongings downstairs myself or pay the fee. When I asked if someone could assist me, she refused and threatened to cancel the contract, making further derogatory comments.

Despite my attempts to reach customer service, no one responded. The driver eventually left, leaving my belongings stranded in Georgia with no way to transport them to Tennessee. Prior to speaking with Jennifer, I had discussed the situation with dispatch, but they were uncooperative and argumentative, adding fees once they arrived, knowing clients are often desperate and more likely to pay. This behavior led to frustration and a heated exchange as they continually spoke over me, ignoring my valid concerns.

In summary, the company’s lack of professionalism, transparency, and poor communication resulted in a deeply unsatisfactory experience. They reassured me everything was fine until the deposit was paid, at which point the situation deteriorated significantly.

Long-distance move from Elgin, ND to Kalispell, MT

I would leave a minus 5 star review if I could.

Having never moved like this before I searched for movers and Starline Vanlines was the first to appear on consumeraffiars.com with good reviews, which I read. Thinking they were a Van Lines, I selected them to do business with. Beware!! They are only a broker and why would you need them when you can choose any Van Lines you would want. After signing the Starline contract I received a bill of lading from the moving company. Once I signed and Starline received their money, they did nothing more. This is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had in my life. The movers were late picking up my belongings and delivering; the movers didn't speak English; they increased the cost by 100cf while doing a visual walk through and demanded cash payment before they would load and unload and the worst is the unprofessional way they handled my items. They included many items I had not requested which increased my cost by $812 and most were just thrown into boxes, heavy items on top of breakable items. I could provide more detail. I filed a claim with them and they settled for $126 for damages which I have refused and filed again for $812 which they did pay along with the $126 after telling them I would be filing a claim with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Very unprofessional and Starline Vanlines should be held responsible for not vetting their carriers more. Also, why would this carrier be hauling a United Van Lines trailer when they were not United Van Lines? I spoke to a United Van Lines customer service rep and she said she had never heard of this carrier. Very deceptive. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. YOU DON'T NEED THEM.

Total scam . DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

After feeling super excited to have found such a competitive rate with a mover for a long distant trip. I was not expecting such poor, inconsiderate behavior from the company after all the misrepresentation. They sent text and pictures of a truck with individual stalls and assured me my items would not be removed during the process. I have moved across country several times and asked all the question around a Light load move that from my previous experience caused items to be broken or lost before. We were told we would have our items within 2 weeks, it would be kept separate from the other peoples items that were picked up along the way, that one person would be making the entire trip, no items would leave the truck and verified they would be able to deliver directly to my home. When the guys showed up with an enterprise truckI was shocked and cancelled on the spot. This was a total misrepresentation and the manager Fred was unresponsive after we spoke with him and provided all the documentation from his sale rep. Now one month later after not seeing my account credited we are being told there will be no refund due to the contract. One of complete false promises. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

Long Distance Move From Florida to Tennessee

It's too bad that I cant give them zero stars! They talk a really good game on the phone and make you feel like you will be taken care of but, in reality, they are just a broker and once they get their 50% up front they just walk away. They arrange your move with random and unprofessional carriers and then take no responsibility. When the actual carrier is completely unprofessional and doesn't perform, Starline says it's the carrier's issue and they can't help. They say it's not their problem when the carrier charges you extra, acts unprofessionally (the police had to be called!), damages your furniture and then leaves without it being assembled. If they take no responsibility, what did we pay them for? I really have nothing good to say about this company as we are still trying to get our furniture and possessions repaired and properly re-assembled.

BROKER BEWARE!

Starline Van Lines is a brokerage. These guys charge you based off a conversation you could have direct with the carrier. If you’re smart you’d ask for the name of the company they would use and call that company directly. Why pay a middle man thousands of dollars literally to speak on your behalf? Do yourself a favor and find someone local. Find a carrier. Check reviews across ALL PLATFORMS. Don’t be like me.

Fantastic job

Dylan and Mike handled my relocation. Wow! They did a fantastic job. Their efficiency and organization were remarkable. We thought this move was quite demanding, but they significantly improved it. They even arranged everything we had within the moving facility. Dylan demonstrated extensive knowledge about the optimal methods for packing and moving furniture, and Mike ensured we understood the pricing. Brian put in a lot of hard work. Their service was excellent. I will definitely request this team again for my next move! Many thanks!

Starline made my quick move stress free

I had to move out before finding a new place to live after selling my property. I needed assistance since I had to leave quickly within a few weeks of closure. Starline Vanlines packed everything in my house, kept it in their warehouse, and then relocated it to my new residence. Luis, John, Mike, Bob, and Max put in a lot of work and succeeded! I strongly advise using Starline Vanlines.

They provided quick, kind, pleasant, and efficient assistance. These three guys are the reason for the ⭐️ five-star rating! Thank you very much, guys ?

Starline Vanlines NEVER USE

They won't let you post without giving a star, but I would give ZERO STARES. We booked them for a long-distance move from Washington, Reno. Everything went great till we got to the day of the move. Not only was the driver two hours late. When he came in, see what was to be moved. He stated he is a moving company, not a packing company. We had a contract saying they would wrap our TV and break down the beds and couches. But he told us that EVERYTHING had to be in boxes. It was not allowed to be in anything but that, and it would cost us an extra $4000. An extra $500.00 will be charged for the two TVs. When we questioned him, he became angry. We asked HIM to please wait for our property. Why did we get in contact with the office? He left with the truck. We could not reach anyone for three days and had to get U-Haul.

Blatantly Lied To Me

They are just a brokerage company that will say anything to get you to sign a contract.

I explained in the estimate that I had a 10x10x8 storage unit that I hadn't seen in years, and was going to clean out a week before the move. Star Line told me the best thing to do was estimate high at the full 10x10x8 unit, and I was promised that I would only be charged for the actual cubic feet I used in my move. That way I would end up owing less upon drop-off than the original quote I was given. The week prior, I asked about adjusting the estimate based on images, and never received a response. The day before pick up, I call and ask about changing the amount and was told that it was done at the pick up. Day of the pick up, I have a bill of lading from another company with an 800cuft minimum. I tell that company, "no, this is wrong, I have way less" but because Star Lines sold them an 800cuft minimum, it cannot be adjusted. I call Star Line and they tell me to just sign the contract and that they will make it right later. After WEEKS of promised phone calls going unreturned and a lot of "it's adjusted after this," or "we haven't heard from the new company about that," I'm told by Star Lines that because I signed the other company's bill of lading (at Star Line's direction, mind you) that there was nothing they could do and I had to pay the full fee. They refuse to take any accountability, and told me to talk to the new company. The new company didn't lie to me - Star Line did. Star Line every time I spoke to them kept saying, "don't stress, we'll fix it," until they came back with "too bad, sorry." I had to pay for the full 800cu ft. At no point were they on my side, and no one would take accountability for telling me lies.

RUN

We hired Starline Van Lines and paid them $1700.00 as a deposit to move our fully loaded 20-ft shipping container to NM. We signed a contract for a total amount due of $2700.00. Two days before the scheduled 6/19/24 pickup date, the company doubled the price in the contract, and the next day we got a call from the person who was supposed to be moving our container to NM. He told us that they cannot and do not perform this service! We sent an email to the company asking them to refund the $1700.00, as well as cancel the bill of laden.

Kevin, the person we had been talking to for close to a year, has suddenly vanished. All of our calls and messages are going unanswered. They have not responded to our requests, and still NO REFUND. BUYERS BEWARE!!! We are elderly and disabled and on a fixed income. I'm not sure if this is even a legitimate company. Unless you have a lot of money to throw away, I would look for another moving company!!!

Effective Communication!!

The entire crew moved with such coordination, it felt like watching a practiced performance. I didn’t have to guide anyone—they knew exactly what to do. Items were wrapped, labeled, and stacked efficiently. Communication was open, clear, and respectful. They checked on preferences for room placements. It was smooth from the very first box. I was genuinely impressed by the flow.

Horrible

Pleas please do not use this company. I should have believed the reviews . Talk to Kevin from starline who promise me the weren’t a broker and my things would be delivered within 3-4 business days quotes me 1700 remind ya I have no furniture but a dining room table a headboard and two dressers I had about 36 boxes. When the quality insurance lady called, I told her exactly what I had. She told me it wasn’t enough room and I had to pay in an additional four $400.. Then when the The subcontractor showed up they told me it wasn’t enough space and altogether that my total was gonna be 3100 and then add insult to injury they told me my things wouldn’t be delivered to me until the following Saturday, which is a whole new month. Unfortunately, I agree because I I had a flight in the morning and I had no one else to move my things. Fast-forward to Saturday I still do not have my items. I got no call no email. I had to reach out to customer service so many times. Customer service is a joke. They’re super rude. Even the subcontractors are rude. Sabillon brothers were the subcontractors I told him I was getting a lawyer he said u can get Donald trump for all I care. Rude unprofessional people. I’m going on 12 days with no belongings but was promised multiple times and multiple calls that I will have my things by Saturday morning. I have already found a complaint with BBB and I’m gonna reach out to the transportation department as well because this is unacceptable I asked for a copy of my bill of landing and they told me that they can send screenshots of it. They didn’t have a copy of my sign contract, unprofessional this is not a legitimate company and it needs to be shut down . Moving is already a stressful time and to have a company take advantage of it is insane, but like I said, I’m still waiting on my belongings so there’s no telling what the state of my belongings are in. The subcontractor sabillon brother were rude I told them I’m the customer and you guys are delaying me I took off from work to accept my belonging as promise and they felled to deliver. Now there saying Sunday or Monday. We shall see . I can’t wait until this is over I’ll def be reaching out to a lawyer for Breech of contract. And I would like all of the phone calls because I know they were recorded, and I was promised so much and receive nothing. O and let me not forget how they promise to pickup between 4-6 pm and didn’t arrive until 1 am in the morning

Terrible people at a terrible company

Starline Van Lines, and a guy named Peter specifically (I won't use his last name but please be wary of any Peter you speak with), are scam artists. I spoke with Peter for over an hour to book my move last summer, and he assured me they could stay within my budget. He sent me an itemized document saying how many boxes and what furniture would fit within the space allotted for my move.

When the actual company showed up (a subcontractor, as Starline is just a middleman), the ultimate costs ended up being nearly twice as much as what I was quoted, despite the actual amount of stuff I was moving being smaller than what was on the document Peter sent me. The man who decided that I had too much stuff for the allotted space (and increased my price) was literally just eyeballing it - which either means he was making up numbers, that Peter is totally incompetent at his job, and/or the whole thing is a scam designed to take advantage of people during one of the most stress-inducing life events.

I couldn't get ahold of Peter on the day of the move because it was a Sunday, and he had only given me his direct line and not a weekend-available customer service line (and I was too stressed from arguing with the mover to think straight). When I tried to contact Peter several times in the days following, he never returned my calls or answered my emails. I have not heard from him at all.

TLDR: Terrible people, terrible company.

DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES – Worst Moving Experience Ever! Read mor

DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES – Worst Moving Experience Ever!

If you’re considering Starline Van Lines, DO NOT DO IT! My move from Brooklyn, NY, to Atlanta, GA, was a complete nightmare from start to finish. They misled me, overcharged me, outsourced my move to unknown third parties, and provided horrendous customer service.

Bait and Switch Pricing

I initially agreed to a price of $3,862.68 after being reassured my move would be handled professionally and delivered on time. At the last minute, they claimed my inventory required more space and forced me to pay an extra $750 deposit. But that wasn’t the end of their shady pricing tactics.

On December 23, 2024, a completely different company, Top Rated Moving Van Lines, showed up instead of Starline. They demanded I sign blank documents and later claimed I had exceeded the estimated square footage. If I wanted my belongings loaded, I had no choice but to pay another $1,995.92 in cash via Zelle. At this point, the cost had more than doubled from my original quote. This is blatant fraud!

Delivery Delays & Lies

I was promised my belongings would arrive by Christmas, but after endless calls and emails, I kept receiving different dates. Then, a driver from yet another random company, One Stop Relocation, told me I wouldn’t receive my things until January 4 or 5, 2025. Now, I am being forced to pay ANOTHER $1,995 in cash upon delivery – with no guarantees my items are even intact!

Disgraceful Customer Service

The few times I managed to reach a customer service rep, I was accused of lying and treated with zero professionalism. I left voicemails, sent emails, and followed up multiple times—only to be ignored. Jacob, the original representative, was nowhere to be found after they took my money.

Final Warning – Stay FAR Away!

This company operates unethically and preys on customers with deceptive pricing, hidden fees, and third-party subcontractors. I am now filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Transportation, and other consumer protection agencies.

SAVE YOURSELF THE NIGHTMARE – DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES!
